Stopped being recognized by Windows.

Oh man.. I had this problem on my laptop.. I wish I could remember what I did exactly, but my laptop isn't with me right now. You will probably need to restart your CD-Rom drive. I started off by disabling it and then enabling it again. It turned out to work for me. I can't rember which Menu I was in though.. sorry!

(I have a Toshiba laptop and some thing happened..)

If the problem persists... get it checked out at a computer store! Good luck!!

My Dell stopped reading the drive. I couldnt even see what was on the CD using Windows Explorer. Go to the control panel and check to make sure the device is installed. You can also trouble shoot the device from the control panel. If it still wont work, then buy a new one. they are not very expensive at Best Buy, Circuit City or CompUSA

have you try to reset it for all region code
if so that is one reason it dont work?
if not & you have warranty call hp-Support
there open 7 days a week till 1am(ETS)

You're going to need to take it to the repair shop.

I believe the drive might be broken, or something happened to the ATA cable. Maybe you misshandled the laptop.
