It has the right combination of prices, convenience, and selection to meet my needs.
The reason they put smaller competitors out of business is because consumers prefer shopping at Wal Mart. It's not as if Wal Mart sends goons to break up the mom and pop stores, or holds guns to customers' heads. People freely choose Wal Mart over the competition, so why shouldn't Wal Mart succeed?
As for trade with China, are the Chinese people better off with or without trade? It's a well-known secret that the rise of a middle class is often essential to the establishment of political freedom in a society.
If liking Wal Mart makes me "mentally deficient" or "white trash", so be it. Sorry, but not everyone prefers spending $5 for an organic tomato at a trendy store, just so they can feel better than the dirty prole's who shop at the "middle class" stores.

It offers low prices, apparently what the people want. But don't get to distressed regarding Walmart history shows that another retailer will come along when they get too arrogant. In 1970 Sears sold more in its bra and lingerie department than its next biggest competitor, people were saying the same things about it. Who would have thought that 15 years later KMART would over come it. and just 15 years later Walmart would over come KMART if WALMART doesn't keep giving the costumer what it wants, its days are numbered too. When I go to Walmart here in my small town it just breaks my heart to see how our schools have failed our children in not teaching history, this store is well on the way to going bankrupt, because it has not learned the lessons of its predecessors.

A lot of Middle class people go to Wallmart. Soon they will be poor. The economy is bad is one reason. But I agree with you I see it all the time Wallmart is putting small business out.

I don't necessarily love "Wal-Mart" but they have ran out all the competition in our area. We have lost both Roses and K mart and now we have only 1 damn store left and guess who it is. I can afford to drive 45 minutes away to but something i need for a couple of bucks and use 10.00 on gas.

There are many people that believe all corporations are like that, some just cover it up better than others. I think other people just are not well informed.
