I have done this for a living and found it to be fun and exciting to do. There is so much to learn that you will never be bored. Just the idea of sharing my talent for others to benefit has inspired me. I actually consider myself an artist because I cake decorate, and it seems to have helped me with my oil painting.
So I would suggest looking on line at French Pastries,French Bakeries, schools that teach pastry arts, then visit bakeries, and talk to other chefs at restaurants, eat their desserts, and the more time you can spend making desserts at home the better, just to get your feet wet. Take a Wilton Cake decorating course at Michael's if you have one near you.Congratulations on your 100 dollar cake, there is a future for you.. Good Luck!

Well you can start now! You can make cooking your hobby and develop your skills delighting your family at the same time! Don't be afraid to do what you dream about! You can go to a cooking school (maybe somewhere in Europe) and make a great career! The world if for those who take it! Remember that good pastry chefs are respected like artist (because, in fact they are some kind of artists).

Honestly, it's not a bad career. Keep practicing and get an internship at a bakery.... have your parents or teacher or someone to find you a good contact. In that industry, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up... even if that means dish washing...
Look into the colleges that are good for it... The Art Institute is the best... Thats where my husband went... now he's making decent money.
Good Luck... dont forget to be a kid.... once your an adult.. the fun goes away

That is wonderful! First, don't neglect chemistry in school! Keep up your regular school work and become involved in different clubs (if you're not already)-such as Cooperative Extension (4-H) or other community based cooking/baking oriented organizations geared toward kids. Have a relative or a good friend help you out. Aim high! Think about France or other colleges http://www.cookingschools.com/cgi-bin/schools/search.cgi?data_file=data&match_limit=30&match_start=1&match_stop=30&altrowcolor=dddddd&separator=%A0%7C%A0&prev=%3C%3C+Prev&next=Next+%3E%3E&byname=®ion=&country=&program=Pastry%7Cf38f&type=&template_file=list_template.html&search_and_display_db_button=+S+E+A+R+C+H+ and continue working part-time on your skills-experience is a must.

Dear Kid: BRAVO! It is uncommon to have that sense of direction in life at that early age. In addition to some of the excellent recommendations already presented, I suggest you contacting some of the best restaurants in town and making an appointment with their Chef, kitchen staff. Do not be afraid to solicit their input...they will provide you good ideas, pointers for areas you need to consider and MAY provide you with intership opportunities when the time come.
Please keep your energy and enthusiasm...love to visit your restaurant in the not so distant figure. God bless.

Keep doing what your doing. You should cook as much as possible. Try new recipes and experiement around in the kitchen. It will help you learn for yourself what works and what dosen't.
It might sound kind of dumb but you should Practice designing and art because those skills will help you to decorate, and be more creative when your baking and decorating.
Have fun!

That sounds great, keep doing what you love because you never know where you'll be when you grow up. If you're still passionate about this after you finish high school maybe you can go to a cooking school and pursue a cooking career!

GO FOR IT!
stay in school and then go to a culinary school.
in a couple of years find a job in a bakery to get your experience.
in the meantime if you can make $100 a cake...go right ahead..there's nothing wrong with that.

Save you money and go to Vienna Austria. They have the best pastry in the world there, better even than French or Danish.
When you are done let me know where they sell your stuff and I'll come and buy it!

That is awsome for you! You keep your dream. Do well in school and take home ec classes and talk to your guidance counselor and parents about taking coursework through your local tech school like boces or We-Mo-Co... they often offer baking or cooking classes that you can take.
Just keep up your dreams!
