once a person really realizes that anger serves no purpose, they will not get as mad as easily

The first step is coming to the realization that you have an anger control issue, and that your harming those around you that you care about (either physically, emotionally, or pyschologically). It would probably be a good idea to have a couple sessions with a good therapist. Often times, people find out that there anger issues are actually stemming from things that have hurt them in the past, and really have nothing to do with things going on in their present. You need to discover from where your anger really originates, and then you need to take the necessary steps to deal with it, and eradicate it from your behavior.

the best thing i ever noticed about my anger and display of it was making a note to myself of when i was most proned to mood swings. i learned that when im tired im more moody and thus i learned when to expect that somthing could set me off i could then assume that at that point i would chalk my anger up to the time of day and could control it better knowing that what just happen wasnt as bad as i might normally think. our moods and attitudes are like on a biorythm and if you can litterally write down when you seem the most mad or irratated you'll notice a pattern as most people do and can learn alot. keep a journal never trust your memory and note down what set you off as later when you review and try and establish a pattern you can rule out the day that some idiot ran you over with their car as a pattern day becuase hell that would be abnormal and piss anyone off... good luck it worked for me

Nothing works better than the old counting to 10.....I have a temper at times. I say whats making me mad in my head, before I say it out loud, and think how I would feel if somebody said that to me. Most times I shut up...lol...but not always. I have left the house and taking a walk to cool off. I wished I owned a punching bag...that would help. If you really are having trouble there are groups you can join and they can give you more advice. Good luck!

Think through the anger like alcoholics think through drinks. Think of the consequences possible and chose if you want to act mad or not. But in my opinion one doesn't always need to let everything go that bothers them, i think sometimes doing something about it can be good for one. I hope that wasn't too terrible.

When I feel angry about something I exercise. It does wonders. I always feel less tense, not as angry or irritated. It is such a great release for unwanted anger. And you burn calories at the same time!

If possible, remove yourself from the situation ( go for a drive or walk) until you cool down, that's what my fiance does when I make him really angry.
