As with anyform of disfigurment, so to say, one would want to hide the flaw, whether it be missing teeth and dentures. People with "snaggle teeth" do control the smile until it becomes habbit.

I'm sure they try to because they are self-conscious about their teeth. Not everyone can afford cosmetic dentistry.
