I think he's the MVP for AL, no questions asked. Not only because hes on the Sox, but because hes batting like .328, has 39 HRs, 107 RBIs, is slugging like .657, has 150 hits, is an awesome right fielder, and has a bunch of local charites of underpriveleged kids here in Chicago. I have to also go with my other favorite team, the Indians with Hafner, but the Indians likely wont make the playoffs.

Why not? he has pretty much kept them in it.

AL MVP

1) Dye
2) Mauer
3) Jeter

A DH should NEVER be MVP. They hit... they don't play.

he also gets left overs from Thome and Konerko, he should be a high candidate but not the winner. Jeter should be the winner because when Matsui and Sheffield went down he stepped up. Hes been getting rbi in the 70s the last few years and this year he has over 80 with only 10 home runs. He his hitting .390 with runners in scoring position. When he has runners on hes the toughest out in baseball, and when hes on base he finds a way to get in position for the big sluggers of that line up. And for all the Mauer lovers, his only huge stat is batting average. His Runs, Home runs and RBI are just average compared to any other players. If anyone on the twins deserves to be talked about for the AL MVP it is Morneau.

Dye probably deserves it but ESPN "Eastern Sports Promotional Network" has brainwashed everyone to think Jeter and Ortiz are Gods. Dye could be hitting 80 HR, 180 RBI 150 R, and BA of .400 and some idiot east coast voter will vote for Jeter or Ortiz. Thats the way the business is.

Bronxbomber, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! Dye is on a good offense and Jeter's not? Jeter has Giambi, A-Rod, Posada and Damon! Plus Dye is a three dimensional hitter. He hits the homeruns, gets on base and gets the RBIs while Jeter is a one dimensional hitter in that he gets on base. They are both gold glove candidates (Jeter's not the best shortstop in the league now that Gonzalez came over). So Id say that Dye probably will win it.

1st: Dye
2nd: Jeter
3rd: Ortiz

Jermaine Dye is having a good year ,but the MVP has to be Big Papi? David Ortiz at this point has carried the slumpin Red Sox on his back, Look what happened when he took a rest for his Heart ailment ,the team fell quicker than T.O. hit the snooze button the day he slept through practice. Jermaine's having a good year . Papi A great one....

Derek Jeter is about to catch Mauer in the batting title, he is only 4 points back after todays game.

Jeter is clutch defensively and with the bat. Dye and the others have good numbers, but this year it is Jeter's tittle to lose.

wow, Yankee fan says anyone but Jeter. He should be smacked.

Dye is #2 only because the White Sox are so damn good. He's got Crede, Thome and Konerko with him, but they still are in danger of not making the playoffs.

So
1. Jeter
2. Dye
3. Morneau
