By law, you have to stay in school, and you can drop out at... I think sixteen if you pass the exit exam. But really, the best way to go with entertainment is to go through with school. Just take acting classes or music classes. Then get an agent.

I worked in the entertainment industry for 18 years. If you think it is some kind of a gravy job that it is glamorous and fun, you my little friend have a lot to learn.

I hauled concerts and drove tour buses.

In my life time I have hauled over 2,000 different shows, worked on movies and did music videos. My hearing is not so good from the loud concerts, and at my age it should be. My eyes are not so good from the strain of night driving.

Sure I made a lot of money and I have memories that no one else has, but in the long run was it worth it? Not really, if it was I would still be doing it.

You need to stay in school and then go to college and get learn to be a grip or an audio engineer something along those lines. Always have a back up plan, there are literally millions of people who try to get into the business at any level they can. They are star struck and that is their only motive. Being star struck will get you no place. The people that do the hiring can pick out people who are in it for the money, as I was, or people who are doing it so they can get close to a star ( called industry stalkers).

If you are wanting to get into comedy, you are not even old enough yet to get into any comedy clubs that can be good for your career. Stay in school, when you hit 18, hit California and look for open mic. Nights at the different comedy clubs. You are going to have to have a real job, because these gigs don't pay much, of they pay at all.

Audition for Second City in Chicago. Find a comedy troupe to join. Try Las Vegas.

Getting into that side of show business is like hitting the lottery. You want to get known before you hit the big time. Being a flash in the pan is not what you want to be. You want to get your name out there in a positive light and keep it out there, then run for the big time.

I am not trying to discourage you from your dream, I would never do that to anyone, but you are young and have a lot of time to start building your shtick, and that's what you need to do.

Good Luck to ya.

At the age of 14 very little people will except you as a client. I say say in school for now till you hit 16 then you can go out and start. At that age people will consider you responsible and except you as a client for their buisness. When you do start go to a publix or somthing and ask if you have a small show there. If that doesnt work then you may want to try to put out fliers on your buisnes that you plain to take. If you plain to entertain then be a comedian or somthing. I say good lck to you. But for now stay in school till 16. Then you will be excepted as a client.
I may be young but I know the buisness ways. My parents own their own buisness, so I have learned. I have also learned that young people are not taken serously.

You said your in dead end Irish town, and your sisters and brothers have A-levels strange they don't have the A-level system in the Republic of Ireland it called the Juinor certificate and leaving certificate. Now you want to go to into the entertaiment buisness. One question what if you don't make it in the business? what you going to fall back on? only the very few make it in the business. Most actors have worked in all sorts of jobs to keep them going. You don't become a star over night. It lot of disapointments, and rejections. Not trying to say don't follow your dreams. But we say you where asks to play Hamlet have you bothered to study him at school? no so you have other actors who get the part they be able to explain to the casting director the role and the charchters etc. I suggest that you stay at school and have qualification to fall back on if it doesn't work out at least you can say you tried.

Over confidence is not an attribute of intelligence. But you will need an education in case your dreams of becoming an "entertainer" do not work out.

And you might wind up "entertaining" people as a pole dancer without an education.

Probably all you can do is study study study, that way you could do a course at college and this would then further your chances of getting a good job in entertainment, work hard now honey and you can reap the rewards when you are older, no one is going to hand it to you on a plate, only you can make that happen!! Maybe we will see you when you are rich and famous :-)

If you don't stay in school how are going to read a script? Please stay in school if you are looking to get into the film industry only. At least finish grade 10. And along the way get an agent and start background work. Again stay in school.
Good luck.
