I just saw a question posed that asked "what is teabagin" and i noticed that yahoo customer care had deleted the question. I think it is very important for people to be able to ask questions about bodies, sex, and sexuality. Safe, open communication about such things can lower people's risks of STD's/STI's etc.
How do you feel about yahoo sensoring people's questions?

I'm shocked at the way people get defensive. I was actually asking people's opinions here. I'm curious to find thoughts similar AND differing from my own to have a better scope of feedback to draw from when contemplating such things. There are ways to dissagree in a mature, civil fashion (not that i always utilize those ways... but, i'm just saying ^_~)
heh, next you'll be crying "crucify ze!" ****...

I have no objections if they follow their own established guidelines.

Yahoo has selected this site to be a question and answer format. They have posted "rules" for its use. As a business entity they have every right to do so. (ps, I don't work for them and don't always agree).

I think they are very liberal in operation of the site which, without single queston/multiple answers, would become a forum open discussion or a debate format.

My Q&A was not designed to be a soap box on Market Street in San Francisco, a discussion group, debate, town hall meeting, or even raise public awareness. (The celeb question is a venue to do that and becomes a forum format).

People who have questions about disease and human sexuality can ask if they so desire. They may or may not get the correct answers they need or they may get direction to better sources of information than My Q&A. This is the shot you get on My Q&A.

Yahoo, while an historic landmark, operates in so-called cyberspace but is not in and of itself cyberspace. The mostly fictional concept of cyberspace has been touted as a place where human rights to free expression are limited only by peoples needs, desires and imaginations.

All the above to say that Yahoo censorship is according to gudelines of their own program. They have the right to censor and are not violating my rights, your rights, anybody elses rights, or any imaginary cyberspace rights in so doing.

I don't think the question you refer to has any lasting social implicatons for the advance of medicine, the understanding of human sexuality, or the loss of intelligent human communications.

Many "shock" questions are picked up on the Webb and brought back to My Q&A by little pack rats who think they will make a big splash.

You and I both know that the asker most likely knew already and, if not, only had to type the word in Yahoo search to find out.

I do think they need to delete a few questions when they involve filth . Slang can be used in the wrong way and offends some people. I have a lot of nasty remarks on my questions so I just go on to the next answer. It's hard to tell sometimes when people are asking a serious question or being a wisea$$. By this I mean I have seen people choose stupid answers to a serious question or at least people took it that way and left serious answers. I think yahoo should check out the total nudity that is on some 360's since kids can also view those.I try to keep it clean most of the time.

I really believe the abuse reporting has been terribly abused by a few people with limited mentality and a chip on their shoulder, so they hate everyone. They will report abuse when there is none.

Yahoo needs to tweak the abuse reporting and, when someone abuses the right to signal that a posting is an abuse, then that person who is always reporting people, should be removed from Yahoo.

I fully realize there are community guidelines, what I am COMPLAINING about is the way some people USE those guidelines without good cause, just to be mean to people for no other reason than they are bored.

Since this is not an 18 plus section yahoo has to have some rules. I understand and respect them. If a person can figure out how to word a question correctly as to not offend anyone then it will be left alone. It will also get better answers. If people would stop posting stupid questions with no point then maybe we woulnd't have a problem.

I feel about the same way i feel about yahoo removing such words as freedom, democracy ect firom it's yahoo China search engine. Yahoo should be leading the way for truth, and freedom of speech, Surely yahoo knows that not sponcering freedom of speech could one day remove them from businessthe same way.
If it is a dirty, vulgar nasty post I think it shold be removed. just because sonmeone sees it as racist is no reason to remove it or yahoo would be out of the questions and answers business as many people seek to use the abuse programs to remove any question or answer they disagree with.

sensoring for cursing is fun. **** **** **** **** ****!!!! hehe. sorry i just realized they put in the asteriks a few days ago.... still enjoying this.
OK-
your'e right though. being able to talk to someone could really improve someon's life, save one actualy----
Some of it has to be sensored--- there are sometimes kids on here and they have to be wary of that. maybe they could just censor on accounts rejistered as younger than 14 or something???

Yes, yahoo should sensor. There are many people under 18 years old on this site. It is up to parents to ultimately educate kids on the sex stuff. If they are not, then they are being negligent in their duties as parents.....

Read the community guidelines. They are very clear. If you don't like it, post elsewhere. There are many sites that accept sexual content.
