Following a particularly bad bite that my Mum received a couple of weeks ago whilst in Bulgaria she was advised by her Doctor that prior to future trips abroad she should take antihistamines as a prevention for a few days before travel as well as during her stay. I had a very nasty bite whilst in Spain a few years ago and since then my Doctor has provided me with a course of antibiotics to take with me in case it happens again and then I can get medication in me straight away - fortunately I haven't reacted so badly since - I generally use Boots own brand insect repellant. Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and good luck on the bite front!
Just remembered - someone advised me to buy insect repellant in the country you are travelling to as each country will devise a repellant suitable for warding off their insects!

Try skin so soft by Avon it can be bought either spray or pour bottle,Got a spray bottle from a fishing tackle shop,I have used it while in the garden also fishing the Scottish waters. Just in case you didn't know Mel Gibson brought cases of it from America to film Brave Heart so if it's good enough for him I think it will work for you. All the very best for the big day where ever it is to be held. Winefly

i suffer from bites also and i have found if you take anti histermine tablets before you go, you build up your ammune system!. Also Shweppes tonic water has an ingredient in it that nasties really dont like! Also bitter lemon, so drink Gin or Vodka with those mixers on nights out! Good luck!

There is a product called OFF. It doesn't smell and it works. If you can't find this look for an anti-mosquito product (might be difficult to find such a product in the UK). The spirals that burn slowly like wheelband are good, you must have a window open if you are going to use one.

Try Avon's Skin So Soft Bug Guard plus insect repellent. It also has sunscreen protection, water resistant, moisturizing lotion, and it also has vitamin e and aloe. It works great!! I use it myself. Avon has more than one product of insect repellent so call an Avon rep. (1-800-FOR-AVON) or try their website (www.avon.com). They have a lot of different scents.

Try Autan sprayed in a circle around ankles and legs and wrists and arms.
Cironella oils mixed with water and sprayed will deter insects as will cirtonella candles
take an antihistamine for allergies, check with your pharmacist for advice!

Eat garlic, apparently it makes you less yummy to insects. Use citronella candles and oils in your rooms as it wards off insects. Use tea tree oil on existing bites, it really dries them out.

A friend of mine, who regularly visits Australia, says she never gets bitten by insects, because she eats Marmite every day, apparently a certain amount of it is excreted in sweat and insects loathe it.
