it has advanced so much due to the invention of the micro chip, it has made things easy when before it was impossible,,
the computer you are on at this moment used to be the size of your bedroom not so many years ago.. also theere is millions of pounds of investment put into technology every day,,

We are much more materialistic than we were 100 years ago. Materialism has a way of perpetuating itself. The corporations see the way we glom on to new gadgets, and they see potential for increased profits if they can create gadgets we'd never even contemplated. So basically, materialism and greed drive it.
