we'd like to add a covered front porch to our home. i'm wondering if anyone has built one, and if so, how difficult was it?

Damn no wonder there is a place like this....First of all with the proper tools and know how you can do this...the type of matterial the building is made of dosen't matter...what you want to find out is if the supports for the porch can take the additional wiegh of the cover...you may need to beef up the support under the porch...I would go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a book on building on tis subject....If you have any question you can email me at wood42ras@yahoo.com

peice of cake, it is harder to get the proper permits to build the porch than the accual construction.

fairly simple as long as the building is made of brick, done mine in 8 hours with minimum help

Its hard work but can be done with one helper for lifting and you need to know what you are doing
