You need to be more specific. The longest wearing is collins and aikman carpet. Everything spilled stays on the top layer and does not penetrate underneath to the floor. Also, if a stain cannot be removed, the weave is so tight that you can cut the piece out and replace it with another piece.

I know a little bit.

I prefer wool, twisted saxony. I'd stay away from berber unless you really like it. It can get caught up in your vacuum cleaner and get runs pretty easily.
