Its not a race.
It represents people from certain countries/regions. Mexico, Columbia and Cuba are some of those regions.

As for race a typical Latino is a mixture of some white (Spanish heritage), some black (african slave trade heritage) and some indigineous western hemisphere natives.

It was usually taught that there are four major "races" of human beings---- the white which is called the Caucasoid, the black- which called the ******* the Asian, which are called the mongoloid and the Australoid, which are the Aborigines of the Australian continent region and southeast Asia.

Dr. Venter and scientists at the National Institutes of Health recently announced that they had put together a draft of the entire sequence of the human genome, and the researchers had unanimously declared, there is only ONE RACE -- the human race.

The differences between people are geographic, nature has shaped our features and skin color to compensate for the environment in which our ancestors lived.

All these people who make a big deal about being this or that race are just basing their judgments on what the surface of the person looks like.
Another difference is the culture of a person. It is not "burned" into the mind or DNA of a person either, so just because one labels himself "Cuban Latino" doesn't mean he has to like beans and rice, or if he is black, he has to like grits.....or if he's Mexican, he has to like tortillas and mariachi music. These are not races, they are cultural traits that can change with time.
Some people do take those cultural preferences and make them into stereotypes.

What they are telling you with "Latino, Cuban,Mexican and Colombian is about nationality or a common line of ancestry, their roots.
