Well considering that the news today is that another 4 soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan, I would say that popular opinion would be against the Conservative government for extending our mission there through 2009 to lead the NATO forces there.
I doubt that the NDP would ever get elected on a federal level, for the same reason that the Bloc wouldn't either, because there is little opportunity for seats in Ontario.
The Liberals had been doing a pretty good job since the Mulroney government; getting us out of our budget deficits, holding the country together (albeit by greasing the palms of friends and enemies), and speaking for Canada rather than bowing to the interests of a Conservative-controlled United States.
I would like to point out the following:
- Because of the C.R.A.P's (I prefer the Conservatives' former party name) foreign policy, no matter which party becomes the government, we will be in Afghanistan for the long run, so as not to break international treaties and promises.
- Canada's military presence in the Arctic is quite limited; we do not have the resources to patrol our waters on three oceans, which is increasingly becoming a major problem as global warming shrinks the polar ice caps, allowing for the creation of the North-west Passage.
- Our CF-18s were built and bought after 1955; however, it should be noted that half of our fleet of fighters are being cannibalized as spare parts for the functional half.

Your credibility is really under scrutiny when you don't even know how to spell, what makes you think anyone is going to believe what you have to say about the Artic when it is really the Arctic and guaranteed is misspelled in your question along with Afghanistan and equipment. So before you decide whether we are going to join up with the USA maybe learn how to use the spell check. Note to Reereecreek, yes Canadians are sick of having elections all the time and that is why this deal may pass because anyone who votes against it may just be removing themselves from the competition by being the one who forced another election so soon.

Of course I will vote Conservative.
Open your eyes.
Liberals:
a) blindly hate the US and Israel whereever and whenever they can just to prove to the world that Canada is independent, but they're just smart enough to tolerate the fact we depend on the US for our export market and so many things we enjoy every day. But their attitude has still hurt our image in our largest market.
b) lie, cheat, and commit massive crimes and corruption. The only promise Chretien kept was to scrap the huge military helicopter deal, which cost us hundreds of millions of dollars, and quite a few pilots' lives in crashes of old and broken helicopters.
c) are soft on crime. They believe criminals are not responsible for anything, so they let them go. There are so many liberal judges and other law professionals still in the system, that they are STILL letting pedophiles go knowing they will re-offend.
d) lowered the age of sexual consent to 14!! Why should adults ever have sex with 14 year olds?
e) believe that all war is evil and that if you are nice to evil people, they will love you back and all will be OK. The Liberals only sent troops to Afghanistan to win political points with the US (our largest market), not because they believe we should be fighting terrorists, regardless of what they said to the media.
The Conservatives:
a) Don't do stupid things such as spout hatred against Israel and support terrorists just to prove they are independent of the US. And we are gaining respect in the US again.
b) actually do what they promise in cutting the GST, giving money for parents to raise their own children, increase support the military, settle the multi-billion dollar lumber dispute by getting us five billon back whereas the Liberals got us zero dollars back, etc.
c) believe that criminals are responsible for their actions and should be punished. Murderers and pedophiles should not be released.
d) do not believe that adults should have sex with children.
e) believe that war must be waged to stop evil. And war means that sometimes innocent people are hurt or killed. But when evil is defeated, far more lives are bettered and saved.
In my mind, the Conservatives have a VERY good shot at forming a majority government in the next election. The Conservatives have accomplished more in eight months than the Liberals did in over twelve years.

I'm not Canadian but I watched the last election and all the debates on my computer. I find Canadian politics fascinating. My question to YOU is - can Canadians really stand to have another election so quickly? I saw a lot of vox pop type programs on a Canadian political tv station during the last election and thought people sounded sick of the whole thing, and hopeful about not having to go through it again any time soon.
