i have an 8 month old son. lately, when he goes to bed, he wakes up soaked from his urine. i have tried "tucking" his penis every direction but he still wakes up soaked.
he's 20lbs and using stage 4 diapers. i thought these were big enough for him. at least they seem to fit snuggly. i just can't figure out what i'm doing wrong with his nightly diaper.
anyone else experience something similar or the same and any suggestions on what i am doing wrong!?!?

i didn't even think about the night time diaoers let alone those plastic pants.
thankfully, he has a plastic mattrice cover, it's made for easy clean up.

thanks!!!

Once they start to get older they produce more urine. i had the same problem with all 3 of my children. You may have to switch to night time diapers or maybe a better brand of diapers. I always used Luvs. I liked them better then another other brand and they are affordable. Try not giving him as much fluids at night and if he is getting a bottle during the night I would cut that out if possible. They have these little plastic underwear you can buy at the store to put over the diapers and that helps keep his bedding from getting soaked. If none of that helps you may just have to go in there during the night and give him a change. You could also try going up one more size but size 4 sounds good for his age, though you say he is 20 lbs, which is a good size so he may need the 5, atleast for night time. Go with a better brand diaper, in a bigger size and see if that helps, if not then go with a night diaper. I wouldn't worry though, it is normal.

Well hes 8 mos old and 20lbs so you might try if you get up through the night to check on him you might want to change him just don't turn on any lights and keep it dark and quite. And you might limit the liquids a couple hours before bed. Especially no juices or anything like that after a certain time. This is what I had to do with my son, the pull ups didn't work to well until l limited his liquids after a certain time!! Good Luck !!

Put a size 5 on him just for nighttime or put plastic pants over the diaper. And get a few good waterproof pads for under the sheets. Some kids leak, some don't. Try other brands of diapers too, they all fit different!

You might try switching to cloth diapers. Cloth diapers are best and cheapest to use in the long run.

Sometimes babys wet faster than the disposable diapers can absorb the urine therefore you get leaks. Not only that but disposables put plastic, paper and chemicals against your baby's skin, is this really a good thing for the baby?? Not only that but with disposables you put all that paper, plastic, chemicals and human waste into our landfills. The human waste breeds all kinds of bacteria that filters down into our water systems, yuck! Not to mention that the diapers themselves take decades to decay, long after our own bodies decay they will still be there. Why do that to our environment? I think they should be outlawed myself.

With cloth, your baby will have less chance of getting diaper rashes, your baby will be wrapped in a nice soft cloth diaper and will be more comfortable. Your baby will potty train sooner because with the cloth diapers your baby feels more when they are wet and messy and learn quicker not to like it and want to get rid of wearing the diapers.

Think long and hard about it. What are you really interested in? You should be interested in your baby's health and comfort, not your own convenience when it comes to changing diapers. Take care of your baby, they aren't supposed to be a convenience, they are little human beings that you are supposed to be taking the best care of, lovingly raising them to become happy and healthy productive adults.

Good luck.

I have to disagree with some of the people who answered this. DO NOT restrict his liquids. Babies dehydrate very quickly. I would try the bigger size, or a different brand. Some babies are just peeers! lol. My oldest was. You could also get some of the pads you put under elderly people to protect the bedding. I would probably try and change him once during the night. Good luck with your little pee pot.

This used to happen to my son when he was very little. I figured out that it was because he was sleeping on his side. When he would pee, it would run out of the diaper before it could soak into the padding. If you give him fluids during the night you should stop that, he doesnt need anything anymore...

we had the same problem with my son....since he is currently in size 2 diapers, we put him to bed with a size 3 diaper....it works....you may also want to try to layer the sheets....put an obsorbant pad(huggies makes some good ones) on his matress, then put a sheet on top of it, repeat this process, that way, when he does wake up in pee, all you have to do is take off the sheet and throw away the pad.....

We had this same problem and it's just a bit of trial and error. Try changing his nappy to one that is for night time use or for longer periods of time (Pampers Baby Dry - apparently has 12 hours protection with lotion!!), make sure your pointing south, but as a last resort your gonna have to change him before you go to bed....pain but that's what we had to do for a while.

Line the diaper with a folded cloth diaper to absorb more urine.
Also, might consider holding liquids for at least 2 hours before bedtime.
