Keeping one chinchilla on its own is cruel. They are sociable animals, and get depressed when kept on their own. They eat 'Charlie Chinchilla' food, or any good quality food made for chinchillas.

They like cabbage leaves and apples. They also like to bath in special sand designed for cinchillas. Any other type of sand is dangerous, don't let anybody tell you any different, I have seen many ill chinchillas, simply from bathing in the wrong sand. They also like to eat good quality hay.

Their cage should be quite large, with wire up the sides so that they can climb. However what they are going to be standing on should be good quality thick wood. They would probably appreciate a few shelve type things in their cage to sit on too!.. They also need a little wooden house to hide in, if they get scared.

Hope this information helps you.
