I have retired from my former job and now I don't know what to do with myself. Because of a little, so-called "alcohol problem", I've lost my ability to make personal appearances at the larger comic conventions (one tiny little episode of public indecency - people can be so judgemental!).
What's a washed up former super-hero to do?

Sorry, that's comic BOOK conventions! I've never been a stand-up comic.
Hmm..

it is very important what exactly made you feel complete while working on your previous job-comic on stage. Was it due to the intention, being in the spot light or the humor itself.
Than you have to choose any job that actually deals with people or public. You can be working for a call center (use the "talking" capability that you have) or sales agent (than you will have that "talking and being in front of a public")
anyway, life do not stops after certain bottleneck, it is just a turnover to a different direction. It is definitely a learning curve for you that you have lost your job, you just manage to understand the lesson and go on...it will definitely turn out good for you. I believe in this! you should also! Good luck and go forward!

I have noticed that every Super-hero does have a vice or something that will take them down(mine happens to be a agate)Morton D Jr, Peewee H., Drew B. to name a few has had their Moments(big time). What do you suppose all of them have in common? Those that are so judgmental generally have something going on with them as well, think of that. However; those few above have in common? the ability to get back up wipe the dirt off their bullet proof uniform and continue to do what they do is best. Why? as they still have supporters that need them and no matter how big the wrong they still see the real potential you have and believe in you and that is key to a good comeback. do not allow that episode to play tricks on your mind, but do remember it and the crap you are going threw now. This alone should provide incentive to not repeat history.
Do not apologize for anything unless you have personally wronged someone. Over time if you perform the best you can the memory of what you did will fade to black in their minds. You, as well as I are needed back to fight the good fight. I know this sounds tacky, but go to place(alone) where you find refuge grab your heart and solemnly forgive yourself and make pledges.
Stay away from meetings as they tend to remind you of(as if like you cannot remember yourself) So do get back out there and kick.

You're not washed up yet. Go back to what you know. Only this time, wear a "trench coat".
