I have a 10-gallon tank and only a 50 watt basking light with a heating pad on the same side. It stays at around 88 degrees with the basking light and heating pad on one side of the tank and the other is about 75 degrees. My gecko ( leopard adult) is usually on the cool side during the day. I tried shutting off the basking light to see if he would go to the warm side but he's still on the cool side. My humidity cage says 60 and I don't know how to get the humidity down to 50-55. Should i get a lower watt in my basking light. what should I do?

75-85 degrees in cool side
95-105 in the other side
make sure you have a night time heat bulb (red or black) rather than a day one (white or blue)
if he is sluggish you can try gettinga uvb florecent type bulb, they dont technically require it but they do benifit from it leave the uvb on only during the day.

also your tank is to small, adult leopard geckos should be housed in a 20 long minimum. and dont be tempted to take your heat pad off your 10 and put it on the new tank, it isnt safe and could end up causing a fire.

what substrate are you using, try calsi sand or cage carpet, they tend to keep the humidity lower, they do however require a "moist retreat" try getting moss, soaking it once a day in water and putting it underneeth one of his caves
leopard geckos are primarily nocturnal so wont be active to much at night.

good luck

I think it sounds like you have the right wattage for the tank you have. I just think though that whether it is the outside conditions in your room, that the difference between your hot and cool spot is a bit much. How old is your leopard gecko? If it is not a baby, past that stage and is a juvenile or adult, then try putting the basking light on, for only 12 hours at a time instead of 24/7, I know that helped us a lot with ours! We have two, they're doing great! Good luck! Hope it helps! Otherwise, ask at the pet store you got it from some good advice as to how to not have the difference between the two spots be so much ya know? : )

warmth rocks are undesirable. perhaps you want a sparkling bulb and you besides mght want the heating pad or then your gecko won't get any warmth while that's hiding. All i could be in touch in is removing the warmth rock and and don't use thermometers because of the fact they're dumb and that i in basic terms experience my geckos to make certain they experience heat.
