I was on accutane, and although I saw a little bit of improvement, I did not get the results I was hoping for. When I went off accutane, the acne all of a sudden started to appear along my jawline (where it never did before) and on my back.

I had to have my blood tested every couple of weeks to ensure I was not pregnant. Accutane will cause instant birth defects in fetuses. I became irritable, had problems sleeping, no energy... and to top it off it was summer and I could not go out into the sun or drink any alcohol.

Here is a good site to visit: http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/accutane/medicationguide.htm

I would suggest tetracyclene first.

Good luck!

If you already suffer from clinical depression, you have to be careful when taking accutane. At the time I was taking accutane, I mainly just had dry skin, but then I developed severe internal hemorrhoids, which I still suffer with 5 years later, I have since suffered with severe clinical depression (not 100% sure if it is related) and chronic chelitis (cracked lips). However, I found accutane did do the trick and it depends how much you are willing to trade with, to have clear skin. Have you considered taking Diane35? I was on that too and it kept my skin nice and clear. Good luck : )
