I have cured a multitude of leg cramps with calcium-magnesium-zinc tablets taken 3 times a day with meals. Also, increase you potassium levels by eating 2-3 pieces of fruit daily.

I haven't heard of vinegar for that, but I sure have heard of soap. Don't worry: you don't eat it! If you get the cramps fairly often, tuck a bar of soap under the bottom sheet at the foot of the bed. Yes, Ma'am, I know it sounds downright bizarre; I also know it works. You'll need to take the soap out of the wrapper, of course. Be sure it's the kind of soap that has real soap in it; fancy body bars may not work. Scented soap (Yardley, scented Ivory, etc) works fine, as long as it's got real soap in it. I've heard that deodorant soaps don't work so well for this.
If your leg cramps are rather rare (but still painful, of course) you can keep a bottle of liquid soap nearby. (Make sure it's got real soap in it, not just a nice body wash -- again, Ivory is great.) Rub this into your legs when they cramp. Wait awhile and wash it off. It's not just the rubbing, there's something about the soap itself that works better than rubbing lotion or other substances onto your legs.
There is something contained in soap that makes a great muscle relaxant. Medical science isn't quite sure what it is, but it's definitely there. I've been using the 'soap under the sheets' thing for stiff neck and shoulders, and have found it works beautifully. I've been blessed to have missed out on leg cramps, thank goodness, so I can't say I've used it for that. I know many others who have, and all say it's great. You'll need to change the soap every 2-3 months, as its effectiveness wears off. It still works for washing, so you can still use it for that once you change it out for a new one under the sheet.

I have heard alfalfa recommended, though I don't know any that involve vinegar. Folic acid seems to help, too. Or Fish oil--particularly the omega fish oils. Also, a little mild exercise before you lie down often helps to cut down on them.

You might also find the potassium in a banana a day to be helpful.
