The car loses power when you put your foot to the floor. As you feather out the throttle it slowly gains power. Is it the throttle position sensor? any suggestions? thanks

Use an Ohms Meter on the plugin of the sensor. Turn the key on, press the accelorator pedal and there should be an increase in voltage.

Does the car have a tubo? Need to know that before can give any other suggestions.

You need to know the specific Voltage range of that sensor, check it by part number. should be a ten digit number starting with 126 I believe for your car.
I would personally leave it on the car as some tps sensors are adjustable and you couldn't tell what range it is set to if it were removed.
Backprobe it with a T-pin (little silver architect labeling pin) and read the voltage while the ignition is on.
most range from .3v-4.7v should not read more than 5

and there are several wires on the sensor, one will read 5v exactly, one will be ground 0 and the other will be your ranging number.

analog meters are better for seeing if there is a bad spot in the potentiometer (tps) as the voltage reading will temporarily drop to 0 and a digital meter will usually round the fluctuation in.

symptoms for bad tps sensors include, the throttle "kicking" or "trailering" usually pretty sudden but I've seen subtle loss of voltage as well.
anyway, hope that helps.

To test this you need an analog ohms meter
First remove it form the car. Connect the meter to the senser and move the lever slowly. The ohms meter shouls move up the scale slowly as you move the lever on the senser. If it jurks or does not move easy it is defective.
