They originate from Roman times when the gladiators fought in the arena and a fallen gladiator lay waiting for the coup de grace.The victorious gladiator would appeal to the crowd as to whether the fallen should live or die.Thumbs up from the crowd...he lives.thumbs down...he dies. So the thumbs up Logo means Good Right OK and the thumbs down the opposite. I prefer a tick or an x to indicate agreement or disagreement.I always remember the origins of the logo.
