I've had a hard time finding legitimate Eris Discordia lore, and sometimes I wonder if she isn't a contemporary invention designed to glorify nihilism. I've heard it mentioned that she possesses a dog-faced aspect. I've also heard that she's part of a duality of Aries/Eris.

Does anybody have any further information on her that I cannot already get from the associated folks at the Principia Discordia? I prefer dated reference material -- i/e: in historical context -- but anything legitimate will help

Not a contemporary invention at all. The story of the golden apple comes straight out of mythology.

Huge amount of referenced books and links: http://homepage.mac.com/cparada/GML/Eris.html

A few more, including Eris in ancient art:

ETA: The modern version's not at all about nihilism. It owes far more to Zen Buddhism than to anything else actually--enlightenment through absurdity.

The reason she was suggested in a duality with Aries was because with war came chaos. I've never heard of the dog faced aspect before.

Eris was the personification of discord or strife. She appears in Hesiod's Theogony as the daughter of Nyx. So she definately isn't contemporary invention.

a couple more references you might want to look into from hsitory are mentioned on Wiki
