Bluetooth is a wireless technology that will allow your cell phone to connect with a variety of other devices. The main application right now is for use of a wireless headset. You can use the Bluetooth handsfree and be up to 30 feet away from your phone. I'm sure you've seen folks waking around talking to themselves, with that little blinking blue light attatched to their ear. This can be really handy when you are driving, waking around the office, or while doing housework. They are even starting to install Bluetooth technology in lots of new cars and PC's. You can also use your Bluetooth to connect with your PC and transfer files like pictures in a snap, wirelessly. So, if you are interested in using the headset or syncing with your computer, then YES, you need Bluetooth. If not, then don't worry about it! Hope that helps!!! :) :)

Bluetooth (BT) is a semi new technology that allows PDAs, cell phones, etc to interface with other cell phones, pdas, keyboards, ear phones, etc.
One of the biggest cell phone BT usage is for hands free ear phone and mic. Those people that stand around talking to themselves are using BT equipped cell phones.
If you are a busy person and often times need to do other things while talking on the phone, BT may be useful to you. Again BT is also used for interfacing cell phones with other gadgets and other cell phones so it may be useful down the road.
The other useful use for BT is to transfer MP3 or images from your PC to your cell phone without having the cell phone company charge you for every transfer. Also you can use BT, like wireless networking, in place of an actual cable.

Bluetooth is just a fancy name for a new type of wireless devices. They can hook up to a phone, or a computer (basically anything that is open to a wireless connection). You don't necessarily need it on your phone. The only time you will need it, is if you would like to add a wireless headset etc to your phone.

BLuetooth is BLUE from IBM ( BIG BLUE ) and is just a patented form of wireless, - other phones have 802 wireless either and as well. You PAY IBM to have BLuetooth, but 802 is an open, worldwide standard.
By having wireless on your phone, you can link to other phones, or your computer ( 802 is easier to go to a computer ). No cables are required.
