the ' dangly ' bit under the goats chin are called the beard, and are there for no reason apart from the billy goat has a beard, and the ' lady ' goat hasnt.

These are known as toggles or tassels. They appear on both males and females in quite a few of the different breeds. Not all goats have them. No one knows their original purpose, but they are just hollow pieces of gristle, covered with hair with no known essential purpose.

I suggest they are left over from prehistoric times serving no useful purpose.

They are toggles not sure why or what for but not all goats have them My toggenburgs did.

they are glands not too sure what they are for poss sweat glands
