Kobe Bryant single handedly destroyed what could have been a dynasty in Los Angeles. He drove the Diesel out of town. Laker management made the wrong decision by keeping Bryant, and trading O'Neal. If I were a Laker fan I would boo Bryant every time he takes the floor. You now have an average team, that isn't anywhere close to contending for future championships. But, Kobe is happy. He gets to show off, and pad his stats. As far as he's concerned, he's won titles in the past, so now it's all about him. He couldn't co-exist with the Big Guy (who is thrilled to be playing with an unselfish team player like Dwayne Wade), so now it's all about breaking scoring records, and getting to take every game winning shot. Don't even get me going on his off the court escapades, and his arrogant on court persona. Dwayne Wade is everything Kobe Bryant isn't. I'm happy for Shaq, and I feel no sympathy for the Lakers organization. They made their bed, now they have to sleep in it. Don't die-hard Laker fans realize what Kobe Bryant has done to their franchise?? Don't they realize that it's his fault they are no longer a title contender?? Why do they continue to cheer for him, and show support for him?? Are they really that daft??

He should be happy. He made a decision that was better for the long term future of the team and his wallet. Having Kobe and Shaq would have kept them among the ranks of contenders, but keeping Shaq that offseason, would have likely resulted in Kobe leaving for the Clippers. Did you watch the Finals? Shaq is slipping and slipping fast. Shaq has maybe a couple or three more seasons left as a really good center, but his dominate days are already over. If the Lakers had Shaq now and Kobe was a Clipper, the Lakers would be in the same boat, but they wouldn't have a future. When Shaq retired, the Lakers would be rebuilding from the ground up. With Kobe, they are just a player or two away from being contenders again. Fans tend to be short sighted and only care about right-now, but, Buss, being an owner, should be really happy.

If he had to let one go then Shaq was the right choice. Shaq's getting old and he did have a much better supporting cast in Miami then Kobe did with the Lakers. I think that if Shaq had stayed with LA and Kobe left the Lakers still wouldn't have done any better than they did. They probably would've been worse.

The only reason Shaq is doing well is cuz of wade. One player can't m ake a difference. i think trading shaq was a bad deal beacuse in the end, having two basketball greats on one team despite egos would sitll have largers sucess. but if i had to choose who leaves the team it would have been shaq prolly cuz Kobe still has good 10 yrs left in him and you can get new guys as they did with Bynum and Odom. but now the lakers need a good inside playr. Odom isn't as dominating.

Personally I think Shaq's getting old anyway. In the long run Kobe's the better choice. I don't think Shaq could hit all of the buzzer beating shots in the playoffs either...

Not in mine. Kobe is not a team player. He can put up some big numbers, but not ALL the time. Besides that, he needs Shaq in the paint.

i think of Shaq is had a greater clever occupation suitable now, for sure he's all down hill now. Kobe will nonetheless have a million-2 great years (like now) then a million-2 greater sturdy years. then Kobe could have a greater clever occupation.
