Points are: (7^1/2, 3 3^1/2), (-7^1/2, -3^1/2)

Please explain as thouroughly as possible, I'm stuck on this problem and the tutor is closed Monday b/c of Labor Day. Thanks again!

Here is a different way to look at the problem.

(-√7 + √7)/2 , (-√3 - 3√3)/2

Thanks, again.

Midpoint= (Average of X values, average of Y values)

Since the X points are equal distances from 0 (aka one is positive, the other the same value but negative), the midpoint must be at 0.
(7^.5 + -7^.5)/2 = 0/2 = 0

For the Y values:
(3*3^.5 + -3^.5)/2=(2*3^.5)/2=3^.5

Midpoint is therefore: (0 , 3^.5)

ghstomahawks is correct.

brooke calculates something different

for simplicity let y=0 :

---A-----midpoint------B

suppose A =10, B=20 then according to brook (20-10)/2 =5 which is the length from A to m and also from m to B.

So according to brooke the midpoint lies not between A and B

ghstomahawks calculates the coordinates of the middle :
(10 + 20 )/2 = 15.
