It's because you're probaly charging it before the battery is absolutely dead. If you charge it when the battery is still half full it will build up a resistence to charging, and the battery will get worse as time goes on. The same thing happens to cell phones and things like that too.

That's because rechargeable batteries die too. They everytime you charge it you are wearing it down. Eventually you will have to get a new battery or player.
