I had my daughter via c-section in December '04. I started taking ortho evra patches about a month after and have had this terrible pain in my left side of my abdomen (pretty low). I chalked it up to my c-section for a year... Well a few months ago I finally went to my doctor because the pain was terrible during my periods (I always have a dull aching pain but a lot worse at that time).. The doctor said it was probably nothing, not a cyst or anything and it should go away. To come back later for an ultrasound if it doesnt.

Well I just read something about the B.C. Patches and the blood clots they cause. Now Im wondering if this could be the cause. Although these women get pain in their legs and all that.. Could you have a blood clot in your stomach or could this pain be assoc. with that? Also, I've had TERRIBLE blood clots when Im on my period. I never had these until after I had my daughter or after using the patch. Any info would be great!

it could be one of many things, i would push the doc to do the ultrasound or an abdominal cat scan cuz it could be a cyst, adhesions, it could be so many things, do let him be a slacker if you are in pain.

The pain could probably be scar tissue if you didn't take care of yourself like you should after the c section. About the patch I used to use them and I would also have blood clots when on my period but that was before all that info came out about them. I don't use them anymore and I haven't had any blood clots.

If your doctor has evaluated and found nothing wrong. it could still be adhesions, ask your doctor if you should try a local anesthetic, eg oragel that numbs you up and you don't feel the pain. benefit is pain relief with no systamic side effects. It is harmful when one uses it to mask pain from a true pathology and then the problem can not be diagnosed or treated appropriately. feel free to email me with questions
