Here's the meaning, whether you like those liberal --- that write dictionaries or not:

Again, it's the other half of the balance. Liberals support flexibility and change. Conservatives support stability and structure.

Too much of one without the other leads to problems, in both directions.

Bear in mind that "liberal" is not the opposite of "conservative." "Liberal" means 'generous' and its opposite (look it up) is "mean."
