Can you please just admit that homosexuality makes you uncomfortable, and stop pretending that there's a legitimate reason to oppose it on religious grounds?
Yes, same-sex relationships are forbidden in the Old Testament. So is pork. And shellfish, and clothes of different fibers, and a bunch of other stuff nobody cares about today. Most of these "abominations" stemmed from public health concerns, like preventing trichinosis from undercooked pork, or preventing the spread of disease by touching a dead body. There were also practical issues: the Israelites wanted everyone of child-bearing age to be working on creating more Israelites; hence same-sex relationships were discouraged.
Today, we have other ways of preventing disease. Also, we have more than enough people. The Old Testament abominations are obsolete in the modern world, which is why no one follows the rest of them.
So can you quit using religion as a justification and just admit that you've got personal issues?

Pegacita: You seem a little bit confused. Having sex is a choice, no matter who it is with. "Homosexuality" does not mean having sex. It means being attracted to people of the same gender, and it is not a choice. People do not choose to have sex with those they are not attracted to. So while homosexuals could "choose" to be celibate, they can't choose to be straight.
You have the right to advocate that all homosexuals stop having sex only if you are also willing to give up sex - otherwise its just hypocrisy.

I'd say that using your Holy book to pick and choose phrazing to support your own biases is the true Abomination.
And Pegicita, Kaposi's Sarcoma isn't a sexually transmitted disease, it is what was known as an opportunistic infection, you said you worked in a hospital, obviously judging from your ignorance of the subject you must have been mopping floors, you weren't a nurse or doctor that's for sure. The STD's that you saw are nothing but the ones that are serious enough to warrant treatment in a hospital, for every gay man you saw there were 30 hets at the free clinic that you never saw.
Good to hear another phobe spew her ignorance. It's nice to know who to ignore in the future.

The Bible would not call homosexuality an abomination, it calls having intercourse with male temple prostitutes (a prepare of the religions of alternative gods) an abomination. The sin is having different gods in the previous Yahweh. Nowhere does the two testomony condemn the state of being gay. yet i admire the Christian copout that it is not Leviticus they're following, yet passages from the hot testomony. The NT prohibitions are grounded in Leviticus, so as that are condemning homosexuality in keeping with a pretend effect of Leviticus, then ignoring the different greater beneficial than six hundred commandments that they do unlike. Bur, on account that Christianity at present is Salad Bar Christianity (even Catholicism - only look on the hot "sins" that the Pope invented), what else can every physique anticipate. The Bible isn't a e book to stay via, this is a e book used to justify doing what human beings desire to do.

The idea that heaven is a cookbook and that by following the rules you'll be ecstatic forever is really good salesmanship.
Once the cookbook society gets going, it assumes at some point that those not following the cookbook are inferior. This approach is wrong, but it takes a very long time to starve the cookbook societies out of contributors.

One of the reasons why I do not go to church is I don't need a mortal man telling me how to live. If you go to one church they say one thing, go to another, they say something else. I feel if they are truly speaking the word of God, wouldn't it be completely universal and not left up to interpretation? A perfect example is a woman spoke about a dog being sin and if one has a dog it needs to be treated as such. Well, I read the verse she was talking about...all it was talking about was when someone turns their back on God and goes to rightousness. It was compared to a dog going to vomit, or a bull rolling in mud after a bath. So, I don't know where she got he dog is sin bull crap.

Great Question! In response, I'd have to say I agree with all that you've presented. This is definitely 'cut and paste' material. ;)
Kudos! and Best Wishes!
EDIT ADDENDUM:
To 'pegacita' ..... Of ALL HIV/AIDS cases ever reported, LESS THAN FOUR PERCENT were contracted via homosexual sex.
That clearly means the next case of HIV or AIDS that's reported will, in all probability, be connected to a straight person. And if you fit that category, that means that person is someone very much like yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~
I approach all people equally. I give them the level of respect and high regard we all deserve by assuming everyone is Gay.
Nicely stated!
It basically says what I've been agruing for many years.
"Where exactly in the New Testiment is homosexuality referenced that ISN'T a reference to what is said in the Old Testiment?"
"Where in the New Testiment is it referenced that Jesus addressed Homosexuality, homosexuals, bisexuals or transsexuals?"
Do you know the answer to these questions....I do. The answer to both questions is: IT ISN'T.
Not one word, not on inference, not one hint.
So, if Christians actually believe that Jesus is their savior and that he fulfilled the Old Testiment, then they would agree that since Jesus Never addressed Homosexuals or Homosexuality, that infact he had NOTHING bad to say about them.
Exactly I'm Christian but I see nothing wrong with homosexuality, Love is love. Not everything is religious. People have differnt beliefs. Alot of people say that but they lose their virginty before marraige or swear or get divorced etc. Some people are just so hypocritical and do things against God so they are just as much a sinner as they claim others to be. I'm open and welcome anything. Gay people are people jsut like anyone else. I have gay and bi friends and they are cool, fun people. Well said, I bow to you. Thumbs up.
Yes, they can..of course, but they won't...they will cling to their silly little ideas, with their silly little minds, doing their silly little things that silly little people do, have done, and will do. No matter what you say, what you write, you will not change one thing..only fear and violence will do that, I am affraid. Gays must rise up as a unit, strike hard, and leave some serious fear in the hearts of these silly little people. When Blacks did that, the same silly little people may not have liked Blacks, but they had fear, and a little fear is a very good thing. Good luck
i think that people who say that homosexuality is an abomination are afraid to face their fear of the unknown and the old testament is just the thing for them to say that their fears are justified. but then they also seem to forget the old saying "judge not least ye be judged." i believe that if more people remember this then we would be a more understanding culture.
This is the best question ever written. It sums up just about every reason why christian homophobics act like ***** all the time. You should really publish this somehwhere. I'm serious. Maybe it will free the United States of homophobia.
