Yes, definately... played by Angelica Huston....
as "The Grand High Witch" in "The Witches"....
disgusted by children (whom she could smell the child's foulness and stench, the cleaner the child was)...she lured the children in..along with thousands of other witches from around the world, who would gather for annual meetings with her, to discuss new ways to rid the earth of pestuous children....She would offer them chocolate bars, laced with poison...which would soon turn them into mice, so then they could be stomped on. Sounds a little brutal huh? Well, the movie really isn't brutal...it's a kind of lower-budget film (Disney, I think) with a fantasy theme and a great portrayal of what "scary witches" are about..the kind we read about in storybooks... But...I don't like this witch because she destroys children.....I like her because she is powerful and beautiful and the rest look up to her for guidance and knowledge....
Strange twist in the movie....all the witches in the world , really did not have long , black, flowing hair..in fact they were completely bald and wore itchy wigs to cover their baldness..and their feet were always deformed in a way with no toes, so all of their feet hurt..always..The Grand High Witch made them wear "plain, sensible shoes" to aid in the comfort of their feet.....(when they tried to pass themselves off as normal women of society by holding normal jobs as librarians, teachers and bookstore owners etc...anywhere they had unlimited access to children...and wear normal clothing and shoes)...The movie never explained why they had such horrible feet but, it really didn't matter anyway...Fun, Halloweenish Movie to watch.......rent it!
***ps : I love children...and none were harmed in anyway during the making of the movie.. :)
****p:ps : Another great Halloweenish Witch movie is "Hocus Pocus" with Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker...cool , classical theme. :)
