What is everyone's obsession with someone's background matching their foreground. Is it really all that important if the person likes to listen to pop and dresses goth. If they genuinely like either style, shouldn't that be all that matters? If not, are we simply reducing an outward appearence to that of culture stereotype? Say a drug dealer in the Bronx wears cowboy hats and uses words like "yee-haw". Does this make him any less of a credible drug dealer? Why should everyone have to merge into what people expect of them? When you see an asian such as myself do you automatically think "They must be a horrible driver ,but awesome at math and technology!". Does it make me a "poser" to be have nascar-like driving skills and be terrible at math and have no outstanding relationship with technology?

I agree with you, people should be whoever they want to be. But there is one problem with posers, and its not even about them. When someone says that they're (for example) a goth, but they just dress that way, those who dress goth are mistaken for the real thing. When this happens, not only does a stereotype start to appear, but it has nothing to deal with the real thing. In this "goth" example, people start thinking that goths are unhappy, violent teenage Satanists, while real goths are none of the above. Everyone should be allowed to be themselves, but by labeling themselves as something they're not, they're creating a stereotype that others have to live with. So lets just get rid of all the stereotyping that people do, than no one will care about who's a poser.

You're not a poser you just suck at driving. I'm just saying that because someone cut RIGHT in front of me today it was like an inch away and I looked and wow, an asian. I'm not rascist. But it was funny. I dressed like aprep and i listened to rock and ska. Whats wrong with that?

Rev Kip - The moon God, WTF? and you're a non secular chief? Explains plenty with regard to the recommendations-set of actually rather some Christians contained accessible... *Shakes Head* Do you not understand that Muslims (and many Jews) hint the origins of Islam back to the accepted toddler of Abraham, who God additionally mentioned could the be the father of a impressive persons? So do you keep it in opposition to Jesus that his father and mother weren't christian? considering Mohammed located the religion, of direction he became as quickly as born into one extra one. and those loopy reference you made with regard to the pagan daughters he allegedly worshiped, you may desire to study basically a splash extra. Mohommed genuinely denouced all scripture related to them as "The Satanic Verses" and pronounced such ideals had no place in a monotheistic relgion. in any case, directly to answering the question. carry in mind, I communicate of the wider Christian physique of recommendations, and now not the real faith itself which preaches tolerance of others... Christianity has decrease than no situations favored diverse religions. To contain Judaism. everybody remember the Inquisition? Or the reality that Pope John Paul II admitted that the church bore some accountability for the holocaust considering of it rather is intolerence of Jews? Ever heard the age previous tale that we use the blood of a christian harmless to make our passover matzah? Christians prefer to piggy backpedal of our faith so as that they have got a love hate relationship with us, although common can not denounce us through actuality that they did borrow our God and not the alternative direction around. The quickly out hate for Muslims comes from the reality that on a similar time as Jews in simple terms have have been given to get with the utility, Islam became as quickly as formed after the shortcoming of existence and hoopla of Jesus. we don't prefer to grandfather clause him in, although they outright rejected him. Oh, that and Christians look an intollerant lot because it fairly is (plenty to Jesus's chagrin, i'm particular).

aesthetics used to be according to one's level of education, sensitivity, inner world, ethical values and so on.. nowadays it seems that people do not have clue what means what, where does it come from, or where it pertains.. thus while no one can interfere with another's right to be confused, this cultural mix and match, at least the way you describe it, is really all about being ignorant and staying that way

"Why should everyone have to merge into what people expect of them?"
Actually, you DON'T. But it can make life more difficult, so you have to choose your own way, even if it's conforming to their expectations.
Maybe if you don't want to be a total outsider, you can sort of conform partway, but push the envelope a little, help things evolve...
