Would you like to see a sequel to the movie, perhaps with the return of the main character to Earth? For you young folks, the original ending didn't include how he was greeted inside the ship. The version shown today on the SciFi Channel was the original cut, without the altered ending.

A quick reminder, a sequel is not a remake of the original. It is a continuence of the story. I would not want to see the original remade, either.

The greatest thing about the movie was dreyfuss leaving at the end into the unknown. I used to think what was happening to him up there, what was he learning? I love when a movie ends like that with no sequel. THE MOVIE keeps its magic and appeal that way.

Oh geez...now I am an 'old fart'. Close Encounters was a great movie. I don't think a sequel would do it justice.

That would be interesting if Steilberg was at the wheel. Perhaps illustrating what's it's like in deep space with an alien race.

Leave one perfect movie alone. And PLEASE never re-make this one!

Remake is a great idea. I would even go so far as to look for Forbidden Planet to be updated. You heard it here first.
