What does a foreign student need to do apart from taking the IELTS in order to study in a British university/college? (for example, like in the US they ask for the GPA, the SAT, TOEFL, letters of recommendation, etc, what do they ask for un the UK?)

It depends on the university/college that you're applying to! As a general rule, apart from the usual degree requirements (i.e. what the UK students are asked for, such as your country's version of A Levels, GCSEs, etc and possibly references from teachers), you also need to show that you have a good level of English and are capable of writing English in the academic style required at University Level. If you are accepted on your chosen course, you will probably be tested on both. If the University is unhappy with your performance, you will have to attend language/academic writing support classes on top of your university lectures and tutuorials. As the previous replies stated, you will also of course, be expected to pay higher tuition fees than the UK students, especially if you live in a non EU country.

For further details, I suggest that you contact the Universities that you are interested in and ask to speak to the course co-ordinator (head) of the subject that you are interested in, or failing that, ask to speak to someone from the registry department, such as an admissions tutor.

Good luck!

You will need the equivalent of the requisite A-levels. An international Baccalaureat is widely accepted. The best course of action is to decide what you want to study and at what institution(s). Contact the institution's admissions department and they will tell you what qualifications are required and the equivalent in your particular country. If English is not your first language you will need to demonstrate that you can speak and understand English to a high enough level to be accepted. The admissions department will best advise you again on this matter.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Well one thing they ask for is lots and lots of money, especially if you are from outside the EU your course won't be subsidised.

Erm international bacheloriattes (I know I've spelt that wrong) are widely accepted. The best thing to do is to contact the uni/college they all have staff who are very helpful and friendly. The other thing to remember is they are used to looking at international students who have loads of different types of qualification.

Depends on where and when you are hoping to study.

The universities should say what they except international students to have..

but a Visa is always good!
