My boyfriend, who is 75 percent Osage and Delaware, had ancestors killed in the Trail of Tears of the 1840s and the survivors were eventually shunted to the state of OklahomMF Then they tried to trick other native Americans out of the oil and natural gas supplies once they discovered the abundant supplies in OklahomMF Now for the past 14 years, the Cobell vs. US Government lawsuit has been waged in federal court because the feds have mis-used these oil and natural gas bank accounts to screw the Native Americans, something to the tune of billions of dollars.

Will it ever end or is the U.S. Government just waiting for the Native Americans to give up? This is a serious question; please only respond if you have a serious answer.

There are all sorts of problems in the Nations. I see a lot of it cause by inactive peoples in the tribes or clans usually. Appointed leaders are often corrupt after they get control of tribal money. Why are the Nations not self sufficient after all of these years? I am very much for the positive growth of the Nations, so don't get me wrong. I would like to see the Nations develop amongst themselves a self sufficiency outside of gaming casinos. Such as solar energy, farming manufacturing, oil too if that be the case. But many sit on their butt and collect their welfare checks from the Feds and don't do anything for themselves. Where is the money going from the casinos. How about this, start with improving schools and solar power so you don't have to buy energy anymore. Don't model the education system after the Liberal left ideas. It has become a total failure.
Why does someone else control oil on Nation land? Stand up, stop whining and make the Nation self sufficient.
P.S. The U.S. has apologised. How many times does it have to be done? And as far as the conquering of the country, it is over. What do you want? Do you want the U.S. to give back all of the land? The Native American did the same thing to each other. They fought, killed and took territory. We did the same to them. What Nation is not guilty of killing and warring with other tribes? The Sioux? The Fox? Shawnee? Delaware? Huron?Apache?
They are all guilty of war and killing, not just counting coup.
As far as the U.S. govt. stealing, I am not surprized. They always have. Why do the Nations trust them? Why rely on govt?

No. First of all, governments are inherently incapable of apology. The right of the citizen to petition the government for redress of grievances does not alter this, and besides, the various Tribes, or Nations were not citizens at the time of their murder. Secondly, who would tender the apology? Thirdly, who would believe it, much less accept it? Since, in theory, our government is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people (Lincoln), if you are a citizen, have you apologized? I have not, even though I'm deeply aggrieved over the massacres I have been to Sand Creek and (mentally at least) cursed Chivington for what he did there. I have cursed George Armstrong Custer in Custer, South Dakota, Billings (Custer County), Montana, and at the Little Bighorn battlefield. Has this done your boyfriend any good?

As to your other question, The U. S. Government could care less about the plight of anyone until they are made to care. There are two ways to do this, the Courts, and the Legislature. File lawsuits and hope that a judge will agree with you, Pester your Representative and Senators until they introduce bills to rectify the situation. Get your friends and your boyfriend's friends to do the same. In some circles this is called politics. In other circles it is called ganging-up.

Nor will it end with your satisfaction, if you achieve it, for there will be unintended consequences of YOUR actions.

Unlikely. The US won't even acknowledge that it is currently in breach of hundreds of treaties signed with various native nations.

My own spiritual training was Native American (Salish), so I'm right with you. But sadly, we can't even get the government to abide by basic constitutional principles, so anything more is idle dreaming.

See you in the dreamlands.

No, no one got an apology, and never will. Black people never got an apology for the way they were treated either. No one will ever get an apology from the american goverment because the government thinks it was right in doing what they were doing. So no. They should apologize though.

Sadly no.

But do you really think the US is the ONLY one do something like that in human history? Civilization has one long story that is both ugly and beautiful.
