Mine is 9 1/2 months old and started cruising about 2 months ago or so. He was walking around furniture, etc. In the last 2 weeks, he started walking unsupported. On 8/23 he took 5 steps from my husband to me and then was being stubborn and wouldn't do it if we asked him for about 1 week. Then yesterday he started just walking without holding on and he'd go about 5 or 6 steps before falling down. Last night he was letting go all the time going 5 or 6 steps at a time and then trying again about 5 min later. So I think it just depends on the child. Mine crawled early and cruised early but he had to be ready mentally and not because we wanted him too. In fact when we "tried" to get him to do it, he refused. Good luck though! Hope this helps.

Every baby is different - which makes watching them develop all the more exciting!
My 1st was walking at 9 months, the 2nd at 10 and the 3rd was well over a year old. It all depends on their confidence and character when they will want to let go and 'fly solo'. I can't even remember how long they cruised! The middle one hardly did it. He preferred to just stand straight up from the sitting position, not holding onto anything. None were forced, they all went at their own speed. Enjoy peace while they are so immobile - at least you know where they are!

all babies are different, my fist was walking around the furniture and with a push along walker at 7 months but didn't actually walk until 12 and a half months on the other hand my second (10 months)is walking around the furniture etc and and has took 2 steps on his own. Give him time he will go when hes ready and trust me once hes done it there will be no stopping him

both mine started cruising at about 6-7 months. The oldest walked at 16 months and the youngest at 18 months. Others are walking at 9 months and my husbands daughter didnt walk until 2 years. In other words one day they will decide to do it but no one can predict when every child is different and does these things in their own time just enjoy where you are now because it soon disappears.

depends on your little one really...

My son was walking at 8 and a half months ;)

He started pulling up on the couch and letting go.. he would take a step or two away and then turn back and grab hold reallly really fast. after that he started walking up and down the length of the couch within arms reach... when he started to loose his balance, he would grab hold, steady himself and let go for another few steps. One night his daddy was putting something together in the living room floor and started calling him over. He took nine steps towards his dad realized that there wasnt anything to hold on to and fell down with this really petrified look on his face. The next day, he was walking everywhere...

He never crawled, and I have read that alot of babies who skip the crawling step start to walk sooner than the ones who do crawl.

Mine cruised around walking along walls, the sofa, coffee table for about 4 months before she even took a few steps. She would also just let go and stand for awhile but still didnt take a step. She started walking at 14mths.

different for every baby - i never cruised, or walked first. My mum said i was crawling round the garden one day when i got up and RAN! I was 8 months old!!! Then i walked - i never cruised. My son, however, was 14 months old when he first walked alone, but started cruising at 9 months. It seemed to take forever for him to walk properly!

My daughter started walking at eight and a half months she only seemed to be crawling and then cruising for a couple of months. It went in a flash. Get all the safety gubbins up quick they seem to have a irresistable pull to places they should'nt be.

my first took 3 months, my second has been for 2 and has just started taking her 1st steps. You will get a good indicator when they stand by themselves for a few secs. They build confidence then attempt to walk, have fun while it lasts, when they start walking you start running! They get into EVERYTHING
