From what I've heard, you are actually less likely to get a bacterial or yeast infection with thongs since they give your parts more room to breath. I mean, that's the reason women wore skirts and dresses in the olden days...to allow more air in and prevent infections...right? Boy/booty shorts are supposed to be the worst afaik.
I think whoever said thongs cause sterilization is probably a prude and just anti-thong in general.

no--and I am assuming you are talking about for a female--I know men are supposed to stay away from tightie whities when trying to conceive.
