The "best" vineyard is a subjective answer at best and you are looking at a very big geographical area. Best advice is to do a couple of Yahoo searches for pick your own vineyards tied to the states you are interested in. Each of the two searches will yield hundreds of results to explore. Type the following (include the quotation marks) phrases in the Yahoo search box and explore the results:
"pick your own grapes" and "michigan"
"pick your own grapes" and "indiana"
