I feel the biggest negative influence of tv advertisements is the set up of the ideal that no one can accomplish and the subsequent disappointment and feelings of inadequacy that ensue.
Life has no interest in living up to the ideals promised in tv ads. Tv ads have no interest in fully delivering everything it promises. Life's interest is in just being what it is, flawed and imperfect and tv ads interest is in getting you to buy. These two forces leaves the unenlightened viewer and even customer mangled in the juxtaposition.
Example: Red Bull - give you wings. The product promises improved performance, improved concentration and reaction speed, improved endurance and stimulated metabolism. It doesn't tell you how long the effects will last, nor what happens when the effects wear off. It promises all these things and delivers them in small measure then a dose of side effects and after effects to boot.

They often cause people to switch channels just to avoid the commercial and now with smart remotes we can easily come back to the program again with just the push of a button. This cause people to become more impatient and dislike the product being advertised. Living in Canada we often get different commercials than those that are shown in the USA and because of this they are often repeated several times in ad spots for that particular show being aired. They are boring times 5 or even 6.

I don't see anything negative in them. They are information like anything else. I like to know what products and services are out there.
Some people have kittens over advertising, because they have this negative view of commercialism. I don't know why such people have this problem.
Love, Jack.

Most of them aim to our weak points, like:
Envy: I want to have the same appliance my neighbor has.
You'll have sex if you use AXE.
Edonism: like perfumes and so on.
Make girls go crazy on diets, because you HAVE TO be slim.
I think most of them go against values.
