You're a train conductor, and up ahead there are 4 people tied to your current track. They will die if the train continues it's path. You have the option, before that, of veering off to a different track. If you do this you will have chosen to kill the 1 person tied up to that particular track. What do you do?

most people would choose the least amount of harm, that being the one person rather than the four
heres and interesting twist on that question... the four people are strangers (or better yet they are murderers, rapists and such) and the one person is your child (or mother, or father, etc)
