When was the last time the UN did accomplish anything? Sanctions will only affect the poor people of Iran, not the government. Russia and China would still trade with them behind closed doors anyway. Negotiations will not work with Iran. We've already offered everything but the kitchen sink if they will just stop enriching Uranium, but they want their bomb. It will come down to either we let them go nuclear or we stop them militarily. Which should we pick?

How could they? Their only retributive option is sanctions, and under their rules, they cannot impose sanctions unless it is voted on and approved, including by all security council members.

Even if sanctions are approved, and it is debatable if they could because Iran has not been proven (proven) to have violated any international laws or treaties, then it would still be a matter of trying to enforce those sanctions. And there will always be countries willing to trade with Iran for their oil.

the corrupt UN has been pretty much useless...Iran is a known supporter of terror...hezbollah...training terrorist and sending them to Iraq...the UN could effectively place much more pressure on Iran...but chooses not to...the UN is a useless as the league of nations was...with the exception being that the UN is a very corrupt organization.
