Julius Peppers was drafted 2nd overall (Because Houston entered the league and took Carolina's 1st overall pick because of it) and he's lived up to him being drafted that early...4 seasons averages 10 sacks per season...even without Kris Jenkins there for two of them...now that he's 100% and with Lewis and Kemoeatu...he should do just as well this season. So it's not a matter of just HIM living up to it...he needs support around him. Put Mario in where Peppers is and he would do the same thing. Can he do it with Houston's line? Doubtful, but give him a little time, he could be among the best.

you cant compare Reggie Bush to Mario Willams! They are two completely different positions with diffent factors to determine if the player is great. If Mario can demand double teams from the o-line and open up someone else then he is doing his job better then most d-linemen in the league.
Mario Williams:
12 sacks, 24 tackles on a much improved line.

Unless Mario Williams is the next Bruce Smith or Reggie White, he won't live up to the hype. The reason....I'll give you two. Reggie Bush & Vince Young. Bush will be one of the best running backs in NFL history. Young will win at least 2 Super Bowls. Bad move Houston!!!

No, sorry. Mario Williams is talented and will have a good career, but statistically:
- Defensive ends take longer than most positions to translate into pros.
- Defensive ends are one of the most common positions to backfire on drafting teams.

The only hype Mario Williams will recieve will be negative as long as that Reggie Bush kid does well in New Orleans.

Yes, they need help there to, what good is scoring when your defense gives up halfway through the game like last season.
Too bad we couldn't have drafted a new offensive line. Reggie Bush wouldn't have been much help, the offensive line is so bad he would have been asking the Defensive Linemen to wait until after the handoff to tackle him.

Yes, Mario Williams is still very good even though Reggie Bush would have been a better pick.

What hype? Yes he will. He might get his sacks and he might be rookie of the year but he probably won't. What he will do is free up that D-Line and create penetration and pressure the QB. He'll free up linebackers to blitz. He'll help turn a horrible defense into a somewhat respectable one. Defense wins championships...

After losing D. Davis for the season they have to be kicking themselves for not taking Bush now, even if Mario does live up to his first pick status.
