Madonna is neither Jewish, nor converted to Judaism (which is, by the Jewish law, the exact same thing)

Madonna was raised Catholic and lately (for the last ten years) she is learning Kabbalh (which is an esoteric form of Jewish mysticism) and it is reported that she has adopted some of the aspects of Judaism itself, such as a Jewish new name: "Esther".
Although declared that it is not another trend and that she had never been more serious about studying, Madonna had never converted to Judaism. Therefor- she is not Jewish.

Madonna was born and brought up as a Roman Catholic but lost her beliefs because the Catholic Church policies were so archaic and don't go with her burgeoning sexuality in her music.
