The Indian Motocycle (notice the spelling)company was founded in 1901. They became competitive with Harley in 1903 and introduced their first V twin in 1907. In 1953 they halted all production. in 1999 the Indian under another company came into being (my brother has one). they close under bankruptcy in 2003. On July 20th 2006 they have started manufacturing again with a 2007 model. I hope they stay around this time.

As for your Indian check on eBay and see what comparable Indians are selling for.

I don't know when they were introduced but the old bike kept in storage for over 50 years should be worth some nice money.
