Vets, Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Pharmacists are all good professions to make good money and still have some time for leisure such as golfing.
Figure on $200K to $300K a year after buying a running consultancy. If you start from scratch and open your practice, you can hope to make the same amount, but it may take some time to build clientiele. After 10 years in the business, making close to $500 K a year is not uncommon.
You got to be good though..........Not every one makes that kind of money. It is true of any profession.
Vet docs do make good money. If your heart is in it, go for it. It is a noble profession just like MDs.
I heard that vets for race horses (specialized) make good money too. Check it out.
If you like horses (beautiful animals), you are blessed to be a vet.

I think they make about as much as regular doctor's do. I mean your'e still a doctor but for animals. I give you props on wanting to become a vet...I thinks vets are less selfish than regular doctors because if someone is willing to help animals imagine how much they must be willing to help humans...it takes a good-hearted person to want to help animals so much. OK, back to the point the place I take my pets to is always packed so I am guessing they make a lot of money because just for something simple is over $50.00 usually so imagine how much they make on surgeries.

Mine drives a new Mercedes or BMW every year. Alot. Open a practice or work for one in suburbs where people will usually spend more, or in areas that tend to be wealthier. But first and foremost, do it for the love of animals and success will follow.
