Try to let go of your fear while at the same time not becoming self centered. As they say, it's hard to lead a calvary charge if you think you look funny on a horse! Imagine you are alone, ina safe place. . . .it worked wonders for my oral reading auditions.
But I added the not becoming self centered part because I've known too many people who are kind while in ballet/tap/jazz/irish etc but when they start pointe they act like they're above all of us. So good luck and remember that all of us are equal, and pointe doesn't make you any better that the world.

Actually, with maturity you lose this problem.

When you are 50, like myself, you dont worry so much about what people think..(really!).

You can wear funny clothes, mismatched socks and all sort of strange things and not be one bit worried about what people think because your retired and dont give much of a never mind anymore...

You find that all the things you "worried" about, were so frivilous and nonesensical, such as the young and thier hatreds, and prejudices, the old and thier Religion because you have already established yourself in a church by now, and know what is true and what is fiction, that others wont bother you by thier diatribe and disbeliefs...(but, you DO feel sorry for those who arent Christians, and lost...its a shame, but not "everyone" will be Saved, and there isnt a thing YOU can do about it, because JESUS is the one who puts it in thier heart to be a Christian or not).

You are "comfortable" with yourself, because all the silly "dating" scene is behind you, and the women, who are single, dont play the "games" that the little teens and young adults did, because the older women are "serious minded" about love and marriage and sex.

You see, when you get older, it will be easier...

But, its hard for you to see it now, as you must be a youngster, and you think that everything is a "crisis" if you dont have a date for Saturday night, or, your girlfriend dumped you, or some other Earth shattering thing happens to you, that is only a transitory thing at the time, and will be meaningless in the years to come, but, just a bad memory for even having to go through it, but, you will be stronger for having gone and experienced the different silly things in your youth.

I love old age, except for the medications, and the aches and pains that are associated with the body breaking down, from silly things we did in our youth, it would be a golden time...

I wish you well..

Jesse

I used to be the same, I wouldn't speak to anyone that I didn't know well, nor go into a shop that I was not familiar with. I fixed it by taking a job servicing office machines. Every day I met several new people that I HAD to talk to. It was terrifying at first but I got over it and now I can interact with anyone.
