My son's were about an inch and a half tall as they were wide if your talking about the abc blocks. It's up to you on how big you want to make them. Just be sure to round the edges. You can also go to the toy store and measure them yourself. If it's lincoln logs or something like that I could measure them for you.

The ABC type are usually about 1 1/2" to 2" square. But when we were kids my granddad made us a set out of scrap wood, that was all different sizes and shapes, we had squares, rectangles triangles, some pieces had arches, we even had some cones, that we eventually talked him into painting green for trees. It was always our favorite toy to play with at their house! He even built us a box to keep them in, complete with wheels on the bottom! I got to paint the box with really cool designs and gran padded the top for a seat.
We built some of the best houses and castles with those blocks.
Thanks for bringing back the memories!
If your son is big enough get him to help you make them, that is half the fun, and the memories!
Good luck!

I would say make them any size you want. He would like any size you would make and would not be particular. In fact, you could make different sizes. Use your imagination. He would be thrilled. Daddy made these. Good luck.
