I have to resurect one of my old answers for this. I hope you don't mind that it is 8 months old. At the very least you can see that I was just as warped then as I am now. lol

I think before you can ask how many naugas do you need.......you need to understand where the naugas come from! Where are they raised you ask? *cough* (work with me here)

Didn't you hear? When there were talks about impeachment proceedings for Richard Nixon people were up in arms. So negotiations insued. The final outcome was that Nixon would resign vs. impeachment if and only if Naugahyde would fade into the background and slowly cease to exist as dens across America rid themselves of the olive green, harvest gold, and citrus orange decor we came to love in the 70's. One stipulation stood in place. If we ever were foolish enough to allow Hollywood stars to become Governors and Presidents of our great country, Japan would donate a herd of Naugas to replenish the U.S. population. So in California on a little farm in Sausalito you will find this herd. I hear they are willing to sell due to the fact that they are down to one last orange nauga and the green and gold's refuse to mate with him. Do your part.........if not for the nauga.......do it for your den. Do you honestly want your kids growing up in a society different from your youth? We owe it to the generations that follow........We must keep the Naugas alive!

Now I'd invest but I spent my last dime on go go boots, false eyelashes and the boxed dvd set of the Brady Bunch. But good luck in your endeavors. :)

As far as how many you need? ZERO.......stick with vinyl. *wink*

Obviously it depends on the size of your couch.
An average 3 seat couch will probably take about 15 naugas depending on the tanning method.

By the way, if you're trapping wild naugas (vs farmed) then you'll probably have some losses on hide due to the teeth marks from the traps. You'll notice if you go to a store that there are no marks on any naugahyde furniture - that's a mark of domestic only.

You'll need approximately 100 naugas per square foot. As for skinning 'em, you do it carefully with your teeth, paying special attention to remove the eyes, teeth and feet first. These items will fetch a hefty price on the black market, if they are well preserved.
Good luck and enjoy your couch!!

How many naugas have to die before PETA steps in? This is a travesty.

You're out of luck. They have all be relocated to Pluto, which doesn't exist anymore.

You need to look elsewhere for couch material I'm afraid.

1. It depends on the size of the couch you want
2. You don't skin them - they shed their hides, and you just need to collect them.
