I agree with Richard. Marketing is a FUN subject to study but NOT an easy career, specially at the bottom of the ladder. It takes a LOT to get to the top, with near impossible sales goals to be reached. Lots of moving around in the field, lots of smiling and taking customers angry or irritated moods, and yet you have to smile :) If you can make it through that, then you are a tough one and can handle the higher positions. You could go into an advertising agency if you are creative, or work in the travel industry which can be fun too, hotels, airlines etc, yet you'll still be "selling" rooms or tickets to people who dont really want them, in the begining. Or you could become a Marketing Researcher, where you'll be collecting data and tabulating it and finding results from it for the organization that hired you. ORRR you could become a Professor and spend time reading and teaching kids :) best of luck.

you could teach at a university's business school, work for a corporation, try your luck at a start up.

-your main goal would be to overall get your product sold by being creative and thinking of new ways to get your audience to feel that they need your product. This can include advertising, having people take surveys to see if there is a demand for your product (product), deciding on where you will sell the product (distribution), determining a fair price on the product (price), how will you promote the product (promotion), using SWOT analysis. Overall, you are paid to be crative.

You will be in the field most of the day with your juniors implementing your ideas at ground level. There will be difficult targets to achieve but you will be giving a go at them. Most of the probable customers will give cold shoulder to your point of view but you must keep going come rain or shine. As regards the reward part well sky is the limit.
